Meet Danielle Harel

Dr. Danielle Harel is the co-creator of the Somatica® Method and co-founder of the Somatica Institute â€” an inspiring blend of sexologist, visionary entrepreneur, and embodied guide for personal transformation. Danielle is a true force of nature: magnetic, grounded, and passionately committed to helping people grow, heal, and fully embrace the richness of their erotic and emotional lives.

With a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality, a Master’s in Clinical Social Work, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Educational Counseling, Danielle brings a rare combination of academic depth and soulful presence to her work. Her knowledge is vast, but it’s her compassionate and intuitive way of relating that makes her a truly life-changing coach. Whether she’s in a private session, teaching a room full of practitioners, or speaking on a global stage, Danielle brings her whole self—fierce, loving, and deeply present.

Her coaching is an invitation: to dive deep into your desires, reclaim your body’s wisdom, and awaken the transformative power of pleasure. She works not from a place of correction, but from celebration—of your aliveness, your complexity, and your capacity to grow beyond what you thought was possible. Danielle meets you exactly where you are, standing beside you with unwavering support, clarity, and a generous spirit as you step into the fullest expression of your erotic and relational self.

Most recently, Danielle brought this vision to life on television as one of the head sexologists of Virgin Island, a bold and emotionally rich series airing on Channel 4 in the UK. The show offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look into the Somatica Method and the profound power of embodied, experiential, and mutually vulnerable coaching. Bringing Somatica to a global audience has been a long-held dream — and a deeply meaningful milestone in her mission to normalize and celebrate sexuality as a vital part of human wholeness.

Danielle’s written work reflects her depth and dedication to this field. She has co-authored Confidence, Making Love Real, and Coming Together, and her research on Orgasmic Birth has contributed to shifting narratives around sexual empowerment and birth. She’s frequently quoted as an expert in leading publications, where her insights into sex, dating, and relationships resonate with warmth, clarity, and truth.

At home, Danielle cherishes the intimate bonds she shares with her children, husband, and lover. Her personal relationships are not separate from her work—they are the living laboratory where she continues to explore and practice the very tools she teaches. Her life is a testament to the belief that erotic connection and deep emotional intimacy are not just possible—they are essential, nourishing, and available to all of us.

My personal growth journey

Somatica is founded on the belief that embodiment is crucial to understanding intimacy and sexuality. It involves fully inhabiting your body and being attuned to its sensations and responses. Embodied intuition is key to living a life that is in alignment with your joy and purpose, yet so much disconnects us from our bodies. Creating this method has been key to helping me reconnect with my body’s powerful intuition and helping so many others do the same. But, it wasn’t always that way…

Growing up, my connection with my body was interrupted constantly due to being led to believe that my body wasn’t the right size, making me feel that something was not right with me. From an early age, I was acutely aware of the societal ideals of beauty and body image. Family gatherings often included well-meaning but hurtful comments about my size. These remarks, sometimes disguised as concern, made me feel like my body was a problem that needed fixing.

Adolescence brought a new layer of complexity. My distorted perception of my body seemed to dictate how I was perceived and treated by others, and I internalized these judgments. Despite this, my connection to my sexuality remained untainted. I felt an intense curiosity about my emerging desires and took joy in exploring them. The excitement of discovering new sensations was a source of empowerment rather than shame.

Amidst these struggles, my connection to my sexuality offered a consistent source of freedom and joy. I found moments of liberation in my private explorations, where I could briefly forget the weight of societal expectations and focus solely on the pleasure my body could provide. In these moments, my body was not a source of shame but of profound connection and delight.

Gradually, these experiences helped me develop a more intimate relationship with my body. I began to appreciate it for what it could offer me in terms of sensation and pleasure, rather than what it looked like. This newfound appreciation started to extend beyond the physical. I began to listen to my body’s needs and desires, learning to nourish and care for it out of love rather than a desire to change its appearance.

My intimate relationship with my body grew stronger, and with it, my sense of self-worth and confidence. I learned that my value was not determined by my size, but by my ability to connect with and care for myself.

Part of developing Somatica has been seeing the beauty and the huge potential of healing and transformation that our sexual desires hold. Intimacy was a place that I learned to see my body and myself in a different light, to have different experiences than the ones I had outside of it. This was a place where I felt glowing, creative, alive, and my body wasn’t a problem; it was a highly calibrated instrument that gave me and my lovers joy and delight. My intimate relationship with my body grew stronger, and with it, my sense of self-worth and confidence.

My journey with Somatica, as a creator, teacher and coach, has been a huge part of what helped me reconnect with my own body, its sexiness, and its wisdom. Helping others delight in themselves has been central to my transformation, allowing me to step into a life filled with authenticity and joy. Today, I stand more connected to myself than ever before, grateful for the journey that brought me to this place of acceptance and love.
